Stuffed Challah Bread French Toast

What You Need

  • 5 slices Sara Lee® Honey Ham
  • 2 slices Sara Lee® Baby Swiss Cheese
  • 2 slices day-old challah bread; sliced ¾-inch thick
  • 3 eggs
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp raspberry preserves
  • ½ tbsp butter
  • ½ tbsp grape seed or vegetable oil
  • powdered sugar

How to Make It

  1. Beat together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, salt and honey in a medium bowl.
  2. Dip bread slices in egg mixture and submerge until bread is covered.
  3. Turn once to evenly coat.
  4. Assemble sandwiches quickly: Spread raspberry jam on one slice of bread.
  5. Top with cheese, ham and remaining slice of bread.
  6. Heat butter and oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  7. Cook sandwich for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Remove from heat and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
